I'm a Grinnell resident who likes to experiment with making things from scratch; the closer I can get ingredients from the source, the better. Trying to avoid certain additives (e.g., artificial flavorings), I began creating lip balms with the fewest ingredients possible. I was pleased with how my olive oil and beeswax lip balm worked for me and decided to offer it to others. I plan to experiment with versions containing coconut oil, vitamin E, or peppermint oil. I also plan to experiment with making lip balm with flavored oils from my herb garden, including rosemary, basil, and oregano. I would love to hear from you what you think of the lip balm. I'm happy to experiment with different proportions of the ingredients and different flavors.

My back-to-basics theme also applies to garments. I spin the wool that came from my angora rabbit or other fibers into yarn that I weave into scarves. At some future time, I may offer some woven scarves.
